From catching suspended bass in the winter to punching heavy grass in the summer, fishing at Live Oak Plantation is as diverse as it comes in South Georgia. We take great pride in being able to fish countless different types of cover and scenarios. For each different scenarios the equipment can vary and we’re going to give you an insight into what we recommend for fishing here at Live Oak.


Spring Time:
    •    Recommended lures: Spinner baits, shallow running crank baits, top water baits, soft plastics, and chatterbait.
Summer Time:
    •    Recommended lures: Shakey head jig, soft plastics, punch rig, top-water baits and carolina rigs.
Fall Time:
    •    Recommended lures: Shallow to medium running crankbaits, soft plastics, alabama rigs, top-water baits, and hard and soft jerkbaits.
Winter Time:
    •    Recommended lures: Hard jerkbaits, small swimbaits, shakey head jigs, rattle traps, and soft plastics.


Recommended Rod Selection:
    •    Moving baits - medium Heavy action rod paired with 12-15 pound monofilament or fluorocarbon line.
    •    Top-water baits - medium heavy/ Heavy action rod paired with 30-65 pound braid line.
    •    Soft plastics - medium heavy / heavy action rod paired with 15-20 pound monofilament or fluorocarbon line.
    •    Shakey head jig - medium action rod paired with 8-12 monofilament or fluorocarbon line.
    •    Punch rig- heavy / extra heavy rod paired with 65 pound braid line.
